Forbidden City (Beijing)
Venturing into the Forbidden City is like stepping back in time. The
buildings offer a sense of mystery with their vermilion painted walls and imperial yellow
roofs. This site, also known as the Imperial Palace, covers an area of 250 acres. There
are six main palaces in addition to many smaller buildings. It would be impossible to see
all of the (reportedly) 9,000 rooms but we easily spent half a day just getting an over
view of the amazing Forbidden City.
