Reed Flute Cave (Guilin)
While there are many caves in Guilin, Reed Flute Cave is the most famous.
It was first discovered during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and used as a refuge from
bandits and warring parties. The 1,640-ft. trail was transformed into a tourist attraction
in 1959. The unusual stalactite and stalagmite formations along with colored lights
conjure up images of trees, ferocious animals and human forms. This was our favorite area,
the exotic rocks form a mystical city reflected in a pool of water.
